Hanukkah bingo cards
Eight nights is a lot of evenings to fill. A quick round of bingo fits between candle lighting and latkes.
About these hanukkah bingo cards
Hanukkah bingo mixes the story of the holiday with the things families do every night: spinning the dreidel, lighting the shamash, frying latkes. It is easy to use as a teaching game in Hebrew school or a classroom unit on winter holidays.
The four dreidel letters' words, Nes, Gadol, Hayah and Sham, are included, so kids can learn what the letters stand for while they play. Remove any squares that do not fit your family's customs.

Ways to play
Gelt as markers
Chocolate coins are the natural choice. The winner of each round keeps the coins on their card.
One round per night
Play one short round each of the eight nights and keep a running tally. The family champion is crowned on the last night.
Story clues
For older kids, read a clue from the Hanukkah story instead of the word, like "the family that led the revolt", and let them find the Maccabees square.
Questions
Can I add Hebrew words?
Yes. Type them into the word box in English letters or Hebrew script. Hebrew prints correctly in the browser print option; the PDF download uses your device's fonts, so check one page first.
What size is best for young kids?
A 3x3 card with a free space needs only 8 words, so you can pick the simplest ones like Menorah, Dreidel and Latkes.
Is this suitable for a public school classroom?
Yes. The list describes traditions and the holiday story, which suits lessons on holidays around the world.
